Caring for Caregivers (aka Your Employees)

March 31, 2022

Caring for caregivers aka your employees

One of the most striking insights that I gained through the work-from-home shift of the last two years is realizing how many employees are engaged in caregiving for their loved ones on a regular basis. Even though this phenomenon existed long before the pandemic, we are now so comfortable sharing our cameras on video calls from home that we often end up sharing more about our daily struggles and needs as well.

When an employee is caring for a loved one, they often share the effects of caregiving, which include:

• Less productivity
• More stress and anxiety
• High sense of isolation and helplessness

At some point in time, we all find ourselves in a caregiving situation but most of us try to keep up appearances and suffer in silence. Generally, we are not equipped to navigate the medical issues, difficult conversations, fear, exhaustion, and other unknowns that come with the territory. But it does not have to be this way thanks to organizations like Cariloop.

Cariloop is a company that comes alongside individuals in need to help relieve the stress and anxiety that comes from caring for loved ones. This is accomplished through a streamlined platform that allows the individual to connect with a Care Coach from Cariloop as they walk through the complexities of each special case in their life. Cariloop is designed so that no one has to go through a caregiving experience alone. Their services cover a wide array of needs, including those in Figure 1 below.

Our company engaged Cariloop as an employee benefit earlier this year and we have already seen the tangible impacts of this service on our team members. We regularly hear stories about how the Cariloop Care Coaches work alongside our employees and their families to offer advice, collaborate on the next steps and bring peace of mind during stressful situations.

For more information, visit the Cariloop website or reach out to our team for an introduction.
