Mark Detor

With an energy career that spans more than 3 decades, Mark is known throughout Upstate New York as one of the most helpful and knowledgeable client advocates in the industry.

In his role as a Senior Energy Advisor with 5, Mark assists clients with every part of the electricity and natural gas value chain including procurement, risk management, demand-side management, sustainability, and resiliency. Mark’s love for team-based work and his passion for helping others made 5 a perfect home for him and his clients.

Prior to 5, Mark worked for several companies that were acquired by the nation’s largest energy companies including NRG, Direct Energy, Hess Corporation and Select Energy. He held various business development and account management roles at all of those companies. Mark’s unmatched customer service skills allowed him to continue serving the vast majority of his clients through all of these acquisitions. He also gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from his experience with the regulated utility Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.

Mark graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Math. He received his MBA from Le Moyne College.
