A Special Opportunity for Texas Educators to Teach Sustainability

The feature-length documentary film, Beyond Zero, tells the story of Ray Anderson and his visionary leadership as the founder and CEO of Interface, a publicly-traded company in the carpet tile industry. In 1989, Ray had a conversion of heart and vowed to take Interface on a journey to become a sustainable enterprise in every way possible. He was ahead of his time in many ways and his heroic leadership is truly a model for companies that are aiming for true stakeholder impact. The best part about Beyond Zero is that it is not only inspirational and entertaining, but it also moves people into action.

After the team at 5 experienced a private screening last fall, we rallied together alongside the film’s director, Nathan Havey, to launch the Beyond Zero Texas Tour. This tour is all part of a larger plan to release The Beyond Zero Texas Education Plan. Upon successful completion of the Texas Tour, the combined funding raised by our Beyond Zero Impact Partners will make Beyond Zero, along with additional tools and resources, available for educators throughout the state of Texas at no cost. The true benefit of supporting the Texas Tour is the resulting education that will affect Texans for generations to come.

The Texas Tour will take place across four cities in four days and will include local and national leaders from every industry. Each event will be held in the evening and includes a cocktail hour for networking, the screening of Beyond Zero, and live Q&A with the director and other key sustainability leaders.

Dates and Locations:
  • Monday, April 11th – Fort Worth

  • Tuesday, April 12th – Dallas

  • Thursday, April 14th – Houston

The success of the Texas Tour is predicated on the support of corporate sponsors through the Impact Partner Program. Benefits include a post-tour private screening for participating companies followed by Q&A with the film’s Director. Impact Partners will also be recognized at tour events and each Impact Partner company name will be added to the closing credits of the film. Most importantly, the success of the Texas Tour will create a generational impact and legacy through the Beyond Zero Texas Education Plan.
