En México el 54% de la energía se genera a partir de tecnologias que utilizan el gas natural como combustible. La tendencia a la baja del precio del gas natural ocasionado principalmente por la sobreoferta de Estados Unidos y agudizada por el colapso de la demanda debido a la pandemia Covid-19, tiene un impacto positivo en el Precio Marginal Local para este cuatrimestre en el MEM.

Se espera que los precios del MEM se mantengan favorables en el corto y mediano plazo, ya que aunado al factor gas natural, esta la entrada de los proyectos de las subastas eléctricas, que con la adición de tecnologías renovables al Sistema Eléctrico Nacional provocan marginación de precios mas bajos.
