Steve Kass

Steve’s diverse professional career includes 14 years of service as a distinguished Naval Officer, a nuclear submarine design engineer, and work as a university administrator in addition to nearly 20 years of experience in the deregulated energy industry. His technical and project management background, combined with his strategic planning prowess and the ability to lead others, makes him a tremendous asset for 5.

Steve joined 5 in 2013, having known and worked with several of the founding partners for almost 20 years across three different companies. In his role as Vice President, Steve is responsible for the indirect sales channel while also overseeing the client experience team and many of the sales and marketing operations of the company related to CRM management and recruiting.

Before 5, Steve held various leadership positions in sales, marketing, and customer care for Constellation NewEnergy and Juice Energy. He also worked for General Dynamics as a Systems Design Engineer for the US Navy’s Virginia class attack submarine. While on active duty, Steve spent three years at sea as an Operations and Engineering Officer on a destroyer, completed several overseas deployments, and served as an Operations Officer for an airborne Special Operations unit. He also served as the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer for various Navy Reserve Units.

Steve has a master’s degree in Systematic Theology from Seton Hall University, a master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Rochester in New York. In addition to his work at 5, Steve is an Adjunct Professor of Theology at Seton Hall University and serves his community as a member of his church’s parish council and as the Vice Chairman of the Board for Chilton Medical Center in New Jersey.
