Kat Clauss

Kat Clauss is a social butterfly with a list of hobbies and interests a mile long. From an early age, she developed an enthusiasm for renewable energy and sustainability work. Growing up she remembers building solar-powered remote-controlled cars and helping design a living green wall for her school.

As a Penn Stater, Kat’s passion for energy and sustainability led her to study the economics and technical aspects of the energy industry. After graduating, she went to work for Direct Energy as a strategic sales analyst, where she supported and worked with large electricity and natural gas clients, providing energy market updates and product strategy advice. She ultimately moved into a role that focused on renewables and sustainability. Kat spent much of her time deploying renewable offerings across national and regional sales teams in this capacity.

Kat joined 5 in 2021 as a member of the Account Management team. In this role, she supports some of 5’s largest national clients who rely on her to provide expert market advice, create procurement strategies, and address their energy needs. Her go-getter attitude and diverse energy experience make her an excellent teammate and a trusted resource for all.

Kat received her BS in Energy Business and Finance from the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University with a minor in Spanish. You can typically find Kat hopping around New York City’s best eateries, attempting a DIY project, figuring out her next adventure, or simply curled up with a book and her two cats. She currently resides in Hoboken, NJ.
