Gary Hooper

With over 40 years energy experience, Gary Hooper has helped more commercial clients in Texas than most people can even meet in their careers. From his humble beginnings working with the utility before deregulation, to his expansion into sales on the supplier and broker sides of the industry, Gary has never missed an opportunity to roll up his sleeves and provide actionable advice to his clients.

Gary started his deregulated energy career with TXU Energy before moving to the brokerage firm, Pro-Star Energy. Reflecting on these two roles, Gary realized that there must be some way to connect the knowledge and abilities of a retail energy supplier with the objectivity of a consultant and that is when he joined our team. At 5, Gary helps clients with meter issues, tariff audits, usage optimization, power factor correction, backup power, and more while also delivering best-in-class procurement advice. Additionally, Gary helps accounts with large meter counts, including cities and schools, as he can rely on the assistance of 5’s back-office team, the Pit Crew, to address client needs in a timely and proactive fashion.

Fun Fact: Gary is a golf legend, having once hit 10 “Hole-in-Ones” in a 8-month stretch.
